Here my thoughts on doping as a spoken-word poem. Do you get what’s going on in these athlete’s mind ? Do they never look in the mirror? Do they still dare to face the mirror?

    Mirror Mirror on the Wall

    Mirror, mirror on the wall,
    tell us
who is the best of all?
    Me, yes, me,
    look at me,
    standing here
    on the highest step,
    gold around my neck,
    look at ME
    the very best of all!
    Give me your applause,
    well deserved
    for what I achieved,
    achieved all by myself,
    myself, MYSELF
    an ever louder voice
    tries to convince you,
    tries to shout down
    small voices deep inside
    whispering
    liar, cheater, looser, killer,
not all that glitters is gold.

    Mirror, mirror on the wall
    tell this reflection
I don’t like its treatment at all!
    Me, the most precious gift
it got when it was born,
    me, faithfully serving it
    to get better
    24/7 year around,
me, bearing all burdens of its will
    and still!
in return I am pumped, pumped,
    pumped full of harmful stuff
never being asked if I agree
    since deep inside it knows
    no, no, NO!
    But be aware, my friend,
one day I won’t be loyal anymore
and my revanche will be hardcore.

    Mirror, mirror on the wall
    ask this athlete
    if they need
    this all-fake ego-boost at all!
Whom do they want to impress,
    they are much more worth
    with whatever less.
    What’s fame and honour
    built up on lies,
there is no such thing as honour
    when playing dirty, guys!

    Mirror, mirror on the wall
    tell this cheater
we want to see the best
    CLEAN winner of all!
    We are tired of doubting
    if it’s fake or real,
    tired of seeing them steal,
    tired of giving undeserved applause,
tired of witnessing their deep, deep fall.

    Mirror, mirror on the wall,
    I beg you,
please, give this athlete a wake-up call!
